Principal's Welcome

It is with pleasure that I welcome you to Our Lady of the Way Primary School Petrie's website.

Situated in a bushland setting on a historical site, we take great pride in our school and living our motto, United in Faith.

Founded and originally staffed by the Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters, a religious order of Catholic women, Our Lady of the Way has proudly served the community of Petrie since 1964. Our work today builds on the solid foundations established by those who came before us and we are committed to the Catholic heritage and traditions of our community, welcoming all.

With a community of around 260 students, we offer learning personalised to the needs of our students and a sense of connection and belonging where each child is known. I believe every child has the right to a high-quality education and qualified, committed teachers who advocate for them daily.

As a Brisbane Catholic Education school, Our Lady of the Way Petrie is a real and living expression of the Church's pastoral mission in the world.

We encourage family and parish participation through liturgy, mass, class prayer, and significant events that connect us to the Jesus story. We celebrate our rich story and traditions throughout the year and invite parents to join us for celebrations such as:

  • Our Lady of the Way Petrie’s Feast Day,

  • Holy Week,

  • ANZAC Day,

  • Athletics and cross-country carnivals, and

  • Weekly assemblies.

I am enthusiastic about fostering authentic connections with our families, students, and staff with a strong, collaborative team that shares my commitment to nurturing leaders of tomorrow.

I understand choosing the right school for your child is an important decision, so I warmly invite you to explore our website and contact us to organise a time to visit OLW and experience our fantastic grounds and engaging classrooms firsthand.

In 2024, our vision is to walk beside our community in faith, learning, and diversity – I look forward to walking with you on your child’s educational journey.
